The music in this site

This site's music does not directly depict anything, but rather its form is designed through individual analysis. Some parts of the music hint at traditional Japanese musical elements.
The creator of the music is interested in the style of Gagaku, meaning that some of the pieces use a peculiar form. Gagaku is a kind of music used for holy ceremonies that has been handed down from generation to generation in Japan. Also, Gagaku's musical form is closely related to breathing methods and meditation. For instance, the harmony of the string family, which is used in many a song and consistently plays an important background role in music, is created with the sound of the instrument called sho, which can be heard in Gagaku music.
Long melody lines are reminiscent of the chants of the Imperial New Year's Poetry Party - a New Year's event in which poems written by members of the Imperial family and commoners have written, as well as kiyari work-songs which have since come to be sung at various celebrations. In addition, the music samples the bell of a Buddhist temple, which continues ringing for a very long time. Also, the bass drums use sampling data from Japanese taiko drums.

These music are arranged so as to trace their way through a series of image patterns which are designed to relieve the stress of people who find themselves leading very stressful lives.
As for using the CD, taking the previous example of a hospital waiting room, try listening to the CD through headphones, and engaging in some slow abdominal breathing. Unnatural rapid breathing or special breathing techniques unsupervised by a therapist or other appropriate persons is dangerous; so stick to natural abdominal breathing.

[Listen to MP3
FIRST HALF / SECOND HALF
This song invokes the image of a cool wind on a summer day. Imagine yourself as the gentle breeze itself, flitting and flowing over fields and the mighty ocean.

5. Garden In The Air (9:53)
[Listen to MP3
FIRST HALF / SECOND HALF
This song is filled with the imagery of a garden spread throughout an imaginary world. A sparkling brook babbles its way through the garden. It could even be the Garden of Eden itself. This song reminds us of the episode describe by psychologist Viktor Frankl, in which Jews taken prisoner by the Nazis were overcome by a feeling of awe at the unadulterated evening sun which they could see from the window of the trains which came to take them away. When we begin to think of our lives not as something that has been given to us as a matter of course, but as a special gift, and when we give up wasteful conversation and start listening to what the world is trying to tell us, the way we see the world will surely change a great deal.

Lake        [Free MP3]
This song symbolizes a lotus sitting on a quiet lake, and a curtain of mist. Play this track at a low volume in order to enjoy it when engaging in free meditation. The entire CD is naturally set to an appropriate volume. Hermann Beckh once said that the Indian image of Nirvana was related to that of a lake at night. Could it be that the image of Nirvana is that of a mountain lake at night, in contract to an image of the extreme, all-burning, all-destroying heat of dayH When using the CD for meditation, imagine yourself as a lotus flower, and also imagining your bud rising to the surface and blooming. Alternatively, you could use the image of the ripples on the surface of the water, created by the opening of the lotus flower, or ripples caused by a gentle zephyr; the mist rolling slowly in over the lake, and disappearing as the morning sun appears.

Tree       [Free MP3]
This song invokes the image of a huge tree swaying - sometimes gently, sometimes not so gently in the breeze. When meditating to this track, imagine yourself as a great tree that has been alive for thousands of years, just as if you had become one with the old tree that you were looking up at.

Fragile        [Free MP3 ]
Creator of the music also composes atonal music, and this music can be said to be the most contemporary style among all music on the Web site.
(All song composed and played by Arie.)

Glossary

An explanation of the ISO Principle of Music Therapy
A useful empirical advocated by the psychiatrist say that a man may continue feeling sadness even if he listens to lively happy music.
But when music synchronizes with emotional feelings he may obtain the maximum effect of the therapy.
It is difficult for man to adequately express his feelings by word alone, so we can say it is difficult to express this ISO Principle in ordinary language because of its vague meaning.
But in simple words it says we humans have a preference for music, and we accept or reject music depending on the condition of our feelings.
The most important thing is that the success of music therapy is greatly attributed to the degree of expertise of each therapist.

Healing Music
Its a kind of music that causes humans to feel a sense of relief and ease.
However it is not possible to say indiscriminately what kind of music can be called "Healing Music", because it must vary depending on a persons mental state at different moments of time.
Music that is compatible with a state of mind is the best "Healing music"for him.
For example the kalimba sound is better suited for a site in Africa than Beethoven's grand sound.

Ambient Music
This style of music was recognised in the works named "Music for Airports" by Brian Eno, although it is said that Eric Saty was the pioneer of such music.
It tends to enter ones mind just as a sound like something related to nature, without any particular melody standing out so it is particularly suitable for meditation.
Ambient music is suitable for being repeated over a long period, at low volume.

Newage Music
This music is close to classical in style featuring comprehensible melodies, and is best for BGM because the tempo and music structure does not change suddenly.
